The new year brings exciting events in the world of interior design, and one of the most anticipated events in the Nordic region is the Stockholm Furniture Fair. Lauritzon participated in the fair with an inspiring stand and is now excited to share some insights from the event and upcoming design trends.

Natural Materials in Focus

At the fair, natural and soft materials took center stage, allowing them to showcase their unique character. One of the strongest trends was creating cohesive spaces where shapes and materials had room to shine. Recycled and eco-friendly materials also played a prominent role, reflecting the growing trend toward more sustainable design. At Lauritzon, we presented new fabrics made from recycled materials in our greencare collection: the luxurious corduroy velvet Chime, as well as the sophisticated wool fabrics Knot and Trysil. Our curtain collection was also expanded with the beautiful recycled fabric Swan.

The Harmony of Colors

This year’s color palette featured a harmonious blend of warm and cool tones. Muted natural hues—ranging from sand to ochre, forest green, and sky blue—dominated the visual expression of the fair. Shades of red, from dark chestnut to deep terracotta, were also present. While pastels weren’t completely absent, they were paired with bolder, more subdued tones, adding depth and contrast to the decor. Lauritzon’s new fabrics, including Chime, Canvas, and Linne, offer a color palette of these contemporary shades, bringing warmth and a modern look to any space.

Contrasts and Bold Combinations

A more human and richer dimension was added to the minimalist style this year by incorporating textures and layering with various materials, colors, and patterns. Upholstery fabrics featured soft chenille and bouclé, as well as eye-catching floral prints, bold stripes, and animal patterns. Lauritzon’s colorful animal prints—Kitty, Cheetah, and Catz—along with the graphic bouclé stripe Muru Stripe and the modern floral print Rosendal, added a crisp accent to the stand. Bold combinations of patterns and materials created personal and inspiring spaces. Details like fringe at the sofa’s edge, striking piping, and the soft, fluffy fabrics like Doodle and Loft caught the attention of visitors.

Abundance in Curtains

Draped, beautifully falling light curtains took center stage, creating dramatic and elegant spaces. They served as fantastic backdrops for the rest of the interior and contributed a sense of luxury. The curtain fabrics ranged from richer, bouclé-like structures to patterned and natural linen materials with a wonderful drape. Glossy fabrics, such as Lauritzon’s new addition Swan, added a touch of elegance and luxury. Curtains with volants and valances continue to be popular, bringing a fresh, modern look to interiors.

Trends and Design Philosophy

Creating harmonious spaces with natural colors is something we’re familiar with here in the Nordic region, but combining different colors, patterns, and materials can sometimes be challenging. However, there’s no one right way to combine—what starts as a minimalist base can easily evolve into a richer and more inviting space. Cohesion can be achieved by choosing colors with the same tone and warmth or by mixing patterns in various sizes, along with contrasting materials. This creates depth and balance. The best results are achieved when you combine your own favorites and create a personal style. Our design philosophy is simple: interiors should be a playful and joyful combination of patterns, colors, and materials. True textile joy!
