The magic and creative innovation of the textile world met once again in a breathtaking setting as the annual Proposte fair took place on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. The Lauritzon team travelled to Cernobbio to soak in fresh inspiration and explore the newest directions in textiles – and the event certainly lived up to expectations.
The charm of the fair goes far beyond its stunning backdrop of historic villas. It offers a truly unique opportunity to peek into the future of fabric trends. This year’s edition presented an especially rich and inspiring array of styles and materials.

Stripes emerged as a strong theme – this time, in diverse forms ranging from classic block patterns to richly varied styles: narrow, multi-coloured, fluffy or hairy stripes with folkloric influences, bringing a sense of storytelling to the surface. Small-scale patterns were also widely featured – subtle and versatile, blending effortlessly into a wide range of interiors. A third standout was the presence of bold, graphic, all-over designs – striking and full of character.
” A noticeable shift towards softer and more luxurious materials and textures stood out. “
Plush chenilles, chenille velvets, and structured stripes caught our attention. While bouclé fabrics are still holding their place, their prominence has slightly diminished compared to recent years. Large-scale textures brought a sense of depth and dimensionality, giving fabrics a visually dynamic presence. New material combinations and weaves are clearly gaining momentum.

The colour palette leaned towards natural and earthy tones. Burnt floral shades – from various yellows to warm sands and reds ranging from coral to reddish brown – added softness and timeless appeal. Multicoloured fabrics introduced a playful energy to upholstery. A refreshing take on this came from the use of multi-tonal yarns woven into the fabric, creating a lively yet calm and layered surface.
The indoor/outdoor trend was stronger than ever: more and more fabrics are designed to suit both interior and exterior settings. Today’s outdoor textiles are so refined that they blend seamlessly into indoor spaces – they look elegant and feel soft, just like traditional interior fabrics. This development is especially welcome considering large window surfaces and intense sunlight, which can easily fade delicate materials. Outdoor-grade fabrics offer much-needed durability even indoors.

Once again, the Proposte fair delivered an special mixture of international encounters, the latest textile innovations, and, most importantly, plenty of inspiration for our upcoming collection. We look forward to turning these ideas into beautiful, captivating fabric novelties at Lauritzon in the seasons ahead.
