In the year 1837 Abraham Moon founded a company in the textile industry in the village Guiselyn in West Yorkshire. He employed local families to weave wool fabrics by hand and the company grew, the clientele expanded and production was mechanized. By the end of the 19th century, Moon’s fabrics were sold abroad, even in Japan. In the early 1900s, the Walsh family took over the company from Abraham Moon’s descendants and today the company is still operating under the leadership of the family, which is currently in its fourth generation.
The high quality of Moons woollen fabrics are guaranteed by an over a century old local and holistic production process, with the work of dyeing and spinning the woollen fibres to process the finished fabric.
Lauritzon’s has also taken some of Moon’s woollen fabrics in its collections.
