In the year 1837 Abraham Moon founded a company in the textile industry in the village of Guiselyn in West Yorkshire. He employed local families to weave wool fabrics by hand. The company grew, the clientele expanded, and production was mechanized. By the end of the 19th century, Moon’s fabrics were sold abroad, even in Japan. In the early 1900s, the Walsh family took over the company from Abraham Moon’s descendants and today the company is still operating under the leadership of the Walsh family, which is currently in its fourth generation.
The high quality of Moons woolen fabrics is guaranteed by an over a century old local and holistic production process, which involves dyeing and spinning the woolen fibres to process the finished fabric.
Lauritzon has also taken some of Moon’s woolen fabrics in its collections.
Moon & Sons fabrics can be found in our Shop & Showroom.
